Service Description

It has been found that around 70% of adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. Trauma can have countless negative effects on one's mental, physical, and spiritual health. A trauma-informed yoga therapy approach focuses on safety, trust, choice, and collaboration. Dr. Emily uses the practice of yoga to help you reconnect with your body in a positive and safe way, become more in tune with your body, and break cycles of pain and trauma. This is done by working through safe guided movement, simple meditation and mindfulness practices, and/or breath work. Since Dr. Emily is not a mental health profession, she focuses on the body and movement practices to improve mental health. Dr. Emily, with your permission, can work with your mental health professional to provide a more comprehensive and complete program to facilitate optimal mental and physical health. Dr. Emily encourages each client with a history of trauma to direct their care. It is your choice whether you want hands-on or hands-off approach in your yoga practice. Dr. Emily believes your body is your teacher, she is the facilitator.
