Doctor of Physical Therapy
Professional Yoga Therapist
Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy Level II
Happy Back Yoga Certification

Emily is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2012. She specializes in yoga therapeutics in healthcare and wellness.

She is a Professional Yoga Therapist through Living Well Institute with Dr. Ginger Garner. As a Professional Yoga Therapist, she has found that yoga (not just the physical postures, but the practice of yoga) is backed by research and science. Yoga is medicine, and therapeutic physically, psychologically, and spiritually.

Dr. Emily found that most of her patients and clients had experienced some form of trauma in their lives which was affecting their healing and wellness. So, she received her certification in Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy (Level II practitioner) with Sundara Yoga Therapy. This training has helped her provide trauma-informed care, and help people reconnect with their bodies in a positive way through yoga.

Not only do most people have a history of trauma, but many have issues with chronic back, neck, or pelvic pain. Because of this, she received her certification in teaching Happy Back Yoga using therapeutic yoga and the yoga wall (a.k.a. Iyengar wall) for spinal health. She loved the yoga wall so much she recruited her kind husband to build her very own to use with her clients.

Dr. Emily has nearly a decade experience working with clients with orthopedic, neurologic, and traumatic injuries in a variety of settings from Oklahoma, to Texas, to Utah! She also teaches  diagnosis-specific group yoga classes in clinics and adaptive yoga with Wasatch Adaptive Sports.

Dr. Emily is passionate about holistic care. She firmly believes that every person, no matter their condition, disability, or past trauma, can reconnect with their bodies in a positive way, break cycles of pain, and in turn move and breathe better to do what they love!

Dr. Emily's approach merges evidence-informed physical therapy with the ancient art of yoga. She likes to say her practice is guided by science, but inspired by yoga.

She helps every client by adapting yoga to their needs in order to meet their rehab or wellness goals.
